In discussions for franchise renewals for Yellow Cab, Austin Cab and Lone Star Cab, City officials, cab drivers and the franchisees are exploring ways to improve how taxi policies are set that best meet the needs of everyone, including customers. How can we improve the taxi experience in Austin?

  1. Driver survey that rates franchise performance

    Create a driver survey that evaluates franchises on factors such as annual income, fees charged, etc.

      Require franchises to report data – including when a driver leaves a franchise, the number of permits, the number of trips per permit, etc. – at certain time intervals as part of the franchise authorization process.

      • Track data about disabled riders

        Require franchises to identify technology and maintain data about disabled riders, such as the number of fulfilled/unfulfilled trips, transportation requests, amount of wheelchair cab permits, etc.
